Tour Plan

On arrival at the airport or harbour, you will be met and transferred to your hotel in Stone Town. The buildings of the Stone Town, executed principally in coralline ragstone and mangrove timber, set in a thick lime mortar and then plastered and lime-washed, reflect a complex fusion of Swahili, Indian, Arab and European influences in building traditions and town planning. The two storey houses with long narrow rooms disposed round an open courtyard, reached through a narrow corridor, are distinguished externally by elaborately carved double ‘Zanzibar’ doors, and some by wide vernadahs, and by richly decorated interiors. Together with, the simple ground floor Swahili houses and the narrow façade Indian shops along “bazaar” streets constructed around a commercial space “duka”. Overnight at the hotel on Bed & Breakfast basis
After breakfast you depart for a stone town tour. Your guide will introduce you to all of the buildings of interest and famous viewpoints. Stone town and its buildings are full of history and stories of the old times of Zanzibar, when Sultans and Arabs, the Europeans and Zanzibaris wrote the history of this beautiful island. You will visit the Anglican Cathedral and the Slave markets, the Palace of the Sultans, Tip Tip’s House, the Old Arabic Fort, Forodhani Park and of course the famous Zanzibar Doors in our petite little streets. We will show you Henna Art and bring you to the fruit and vegetable market. So be ready for a walk through the long history of Zanzibar and its numerous rulers. Lunch at Archipelago restaurant exclusive of drinks at 1500hrs depart by boat to Prison Island. Prison Island is so called because of its first usage as a prison, which was built in 1893. But in fact was it used as a quarantine hospital and is nowadays the home of the giant turtles which were banned from the city of Stone town. Dinner at a local restaurant Return to the hotel for overnight
After breakfast transfer to Mangapwani village. Visit of the slave caves and chambers. Lunch at Mangapwani Serena restaurant. The restaurant is located on the outskirts of Zanzibar stone town. The Serena Mangapwani Restaurant and Water sports Centre is a great destination for those looking for somewhere special. Visitors to Mangapwani are offered a fresh seafood barbeque cooked to perfection by Serena’s expert team of chefs. The atmosphere is informal and friendly and the restaurant comprises a series of traditional makuti bandas, all set into a lush hillside overlooking an idyllic beach. At additional costs guests can also enjoy fishing, snorkelling, kayaking, catamaran rides and other pleasant distractions at the well-equipped water sports centre. Late in the afternoon, drive back to stone town; Dinner at a local restaurant; Overnight at the hotel in Stone town
After breakfast transfer to the airport for your flight back home.

It is a great place to shop not too far from New York. We took the bus from Port Authority and traveled through the countryside to get there.
